Prompt for the week of April 18

The only time that I can recall taking any type of political position was when I was president of a club in my highschool. I started participating in the club in 8th grade in the junior high and stayed it in throughout high school. In tenth grade, the members from the junior high had to go to the highschool where this particular group did not exist. With the help of our spouser and teachers, we were able to create a new older level group at the high school. It was in this year that I became the presient and kept this position for 3 years. The club was called the Octagon Club with is a division of JOOI which stands for Junior Optimist Octagon International. These groups exist throughout all of the United States and parts of Canada. The purpose of the group is to better the community, help people and have a great time doing it. I became very close to everyone in the group and was so excited about all the different activites and events I was able to lead my group through. In my junior year of highschool, I was even elected a higher position in the group; governor. With the position, I was not only responsible for my group, but I was also suppost to help bring our district our groups together and make sure that all major activities went smoothly for each group. My time in this group and holding these positions were very worthwhile for me. I didn't only learn alot about the people in my group and community, but I learned about myself. I think I became a stronger person by holding these positions and being able to make the world a better place by helping one person, one community at a time.
